Who can use Halltips

You must be 18 or older. Guides must be current students of the school whose email they verify.

What Halltips is

Halltips connects future students with current students, shows short tips, and links to your school’s official services. Guides are volunteers, not employees or advisers of Halltips or of your school. Halltips does not give legal, medical, immigration or visa advice, and never handles financial aid, housing applications, payments or files. For anything important, use the official school page or office.

Rules: no objectionable content

Do not post or send content that is bullying, harassing, hateful or racist, sexual, threatening, deceptive, a scam or spam, or that could put someone in danger. Do not share someone else’s private information. Do not pretend to be someone else.

This applies to profile pictures too. Use a photo of yourself or something harmless, never a photo of another person without their permission. We cannot check every photo in advance: anyone can report a picture, and we remove it and can suspend the account.

Reports, blocking and removal

You can report any message or person, and block anyone, from the chat. We filter content, review reports, and may remove content, suspend or close accounts, and remove tips, without notice when these rules are broken. Suspended accounts cannot sign in. If you see something dangerous, contact local emergency services; in the US you can call or text 988 for crisis support.

Tips and translations

Tips are reviewed before they appear and can be removed at any time. Messages and tips can be translated automatically; translations can be wrong. You are responsible for what you write. By posting a tip you allow Halltips to show it to students of your school.

Third-party links and partners

Links open official pages of schools and other organisations. Housing partners are labelled “Partner”; you visit and apply on their own website. We are not responsible for third-party sites or services.

Your account

Keep your sign-in secure. You can delete your account at any time in the app.

Liability and changes

Halltips is provided “as is”. To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for advice given by guides or for third-party services. We may change these Terms; if the change is important we will tell you in the app.
